Marda Gayle Gibbons was born in Alliance, Nebraska on August 17, 1936. She was the second child born to Dale and Dorothy Wade. Gayle passed from this life into eternal life on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society-Loveland Village in Loveland, Colorado. She was 87 years old at the time of her death.
Though born in Alliance, Nebraska, Gayle spent her school years in Greybull, Wyoming. Following her high school graduation, she went to college at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, graduating in 1957. Later that year, at Thanksgiving time, she married Thomas Daniel Gibbons. They would enjoy almost 46 years of marriage before his death on June 20, 2003.
Tom and Gayle began a family with the birth of Don in 1958, Miles in 1960 and Darla Kay in 1962. Darla would pass away on January 11, 2002. Tom and Gayle raised their family for the first years in Casper, Wyoming. In addition to her work as mother and wife, Gayle used her nursing skills at the hospital in Casper.
In 1969, when Gayle was 33 the family moved to Littleton. It was only over the past two years that she received care at Good Samaritan in Loveland. In addition to her family, Gayle was a school nurse at Newton Middle School and Goddard Elementary School in Littleton. She later served as a nurse, working with Dr. Gibson and Dr. “Mac”, both medical surgeons. Gayle retired in the late 1990’s.
Gayle was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Littleton, singing with the Ascension Chorale for many years.
Preceding Gayle in death is her husband, Tom; her daughter, Darla Kay; and her brother, Donny. Surviving her are her sons, Don and his wife, Sharon, and Miles and his wife Stephanie; grandchildren Nikolai and his wife Toni, Donovan and his wife Yasmina, Janelle and her fiancé Conner, Jory Croft and her husband, Justin, Zackary and Anna, Cody and his wife Ashley; great-grandchildren Mayla, James, Annalise, Wade and Malakai; and a host of other friends and relatives.
Gayle will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Ascension Lutheran Church Foundation.
