March 25, 1956-August 21, 2023
Mark, 67, was a man of many talents and skills. He was an exceptional builder/carpenter and equipment operator. His ability to solve problems was extraordinary. He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 46 years, Mary. He is survived by his children Jeanne (Gregg Armijo) Shaffer, Scott Shaffer, and Trent (Liz) Shaffer.
Mark was born and raised in Wadsworth, Ohio and graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1974. He received his associate degree from Akron University in 1976. He and Mary moved to Loveland in 1981, where he built several homes before starting his own company, Shaffer Custom Excavating Inc. in 1987. Mark built a reputation of honesty, fairness, and integrity in his business endeavors. He envisioned and tackled difficult construction projects throughout the Loveland/Ft. Collins area. Mark was willing to help others learn the trade he so thoroughly enjoyed.
Mark cared deeply for his family and friends. He will be remembered as always being cheerful and having a friendly smile. He leaves behind his mother, Ulah Shaffer, and sisters Jill (Mike) Manning and Joan Milhoan. He is preceded in death by his father, Glenn Shaffer. His many nieces and nephews have fond memories of being at the family cabin and the Shaffer home in Loveland.
We lost a gentle, one-of-a-kind man
