Michael P. Berthoud, also known as Mike, 85 years young, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home from pancreatic cancer on September 20th, 2026. He was born on December 7th, 1940, in Moline, Illinois. Mike served in the National Guard before moving to Colorado in 1975 and opened Mike's Downtown Texaco which was located in Loveland. In the 1990s Mike moved his mechanic shop down the road to its current location off Cleveland Ave.
Mike was an avid bowler, golfer, and collector. He started bowling as a teenager and belonged to many leagues throughout his life both in Illinois and in Colorado. You could often find Mike at The Olde Course (Loveland) anytime the weather was nice. Truly Mike loved to be active. In his younger years he played volleyball, softball, and enjoyed playing pool. He liked watching many different sports but loved watching the Denver Broncos and Nuggets. He had quite a collection of Broncos memorabilia, but he also collected stamps, coins, baseball cards, and of course, anything Texaco related.
Mike was first married to Sue, and together they had three children, Todd, T. Michael, and Stephanie. Following Sue's passing, Mike later married Kristy, who survives him. He is also survived by his brothers Raymond (Rose Mary), Peter (Joeleine), and his sister Sandra. Mike is preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter.
Mike had a special place in his heart for his cats, but really all furry animals. He took great joy in their companionship. So, we ask that memorial contributions be made to the NOCO Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at Allnutt Funeral Service - Hunter Chapel, 2100 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland.
