Myrna Lynn Myatt

Myrna Lynn Myatt, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully in Fort Collins, Colorado, on July 16, 2026, at the age of 85. She was born on December 24, 1940, to Gwen and Cecil King in Provo, Utah, and spent her early childhood in Sigurd, Utah. At the age of nine, her family moved to Richfield, Utah, where she was raised and graduated from Richfield High School in 1959.

During high school, Myrna was a band twirler and proudly served as president of the Katettes Pep Club. She went on to attend Utah State University, graduating in 1963 with a composite major in elementary education and childhood development. While at Utah State, she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and was part of Homecoming royalty each year. She worked as a ski patrol member during college and enjoyed playing tennis and golf, winning many tournaments along the way.

After college, Myrna taught at Lois Craig Elementary School in Las Vegas, Nevada, for four years. In 1966, she began working toward a master's degree at Northern Arizona University. On October 19, 1967, she met and married Ramsey Myatt in Las Vegas. They eventually moved to Colorado, where Myrna continued her career in education before settling in Fort Collins.

Myrna taught and substituted at various schools in the Fort Collins area while also devoting herself to being a stay-at-home mother. Her greatest joy was her family. She dedicated countless years to caring for her children, grandchildren, and eventually her great-grandchild. Family always came first, and she was the person who would lend an ear, offer a helping hand, or simply be there when someone needed her.

Myrna was funny, feisty, and wonderfully sassy. Those who knew her will remember her quick wit, strong personality, generous heart, and the warmth she brought into the lives of others. She was active in her local church and loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling, with memorable trips taking her to China, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Scotland, and many places closer to home.

In her quieter moments, Myrna could often be found knitting, playing cards with friends, working on Sudoku, or enjoying one of her many favorite game shows, including Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. She was an avid reader and made good use of the Poudre Library system. She also had a special fondness for eating at Young's Cafe in Fort Collins—and, of course, enjoying a Diet Coke.

Myrna is survived by her daughter, Melissa Johnson (Tim); her sons, Scott Myatt (Taryn) and Ryan Myatt (Cheree); her grandchildren, Porter, Emma, Ava, Ella, Tristan, Mason, Ashlinn, Kailan, Dallin, Gavin, Garrett, Keira, and Quinn; and her great-grandchild, Rowan.

Myrna leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
