OBITUARY

Ned Puev

December 5, 1932September 11, 2020

Ned Puev, age 87, passed away on September 11, 2020 with his loving family by his side. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 10:00am at Saint Spyridon Orthodox Church in Loveland, Colorado, with interment to follow at Chapel Hills Mortuary in Centennial, Colorado.

Ned was born in Bulgaria in 1932, where he worked the family farm until political unrest led to his family’s departure from Bulgaria. Ned eventually immigrated to the United States in 1956 with his sister and parents, where he met the love of his life, Alexandra Smirnova, in Rochester, New York. They were married in 1957 and had three children, Vicky, Ned Jr., and Mark. Ned earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (both in Business Administration) at the University of Rochester. He had a very successful career working for the RT French Company and then Xerox Corp. The family relocated to Denver Colorado in 1974, and Ned continued to work for Xerox until he retired in the early 90s.

While attending a Xerox company function in the 1970’s, Ned discovered Maui, Hawaii, which was to become his life-long happy place. The entire family vacationed there repeatedly, where they created many lasting memories. Ned was happiest with his tribe around him and with his toes in the sand on the sunny beaches of Lahaina, Hawaii.

Some of the family’s fondest memories of “Grandpa Ned“ will always be the short and eloquent speeches with which he would start any family get-together, be it in Hawaii or at family dinners or birthday parties. Above all else, Ned will be remembered as an inspiration to his children and grandchildren of what family means. He was always there for his family, and his legacy of love and his generous and giving heart will be a part of their lives forever.

Ned is survived by his beloved wife Alexandra; his sister Metana Lucas; his children Vicky Hensen (Bill), children Lauren, Will, and Mia of Parker, Colorado; Ned Puev Jr. (Elaine), children Ariel, Katie, and Lindsey of Fort Collins, Colorado; and Mark Puev (Christy), children Lexi and Andrew of Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his parents Canko and Perka Puev, mother in law Maria Smirnova, brother in law Kurt Lucas, and sister in law Tanya Atkins.

A funeral mass will be conducted at St. Spyridon Orthodox Church in Loveland on Monday, September 21st at 10am, followed by a graveside committal at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Littleton at 1pm. See complete service information below for location addresses.

We are very sad to hear of Ned's passing. We had the pleasure of being next door neighbors with Ned and Sandy for many years in Loveland until we moved in 2018. Ned was a very kind, gentle, joyful and honorable man and we will miss him very much. Our prayers are with Sandy and the rest of Ned's family.

Until we meet again Ned,
