Richard Eugene Meixner, 77, of Windsor, Colorado, passed away on October 27, 2026. Born on August 21, 1949, in Seattle, Washington, he was a son to the late Eugene Henry Meixner and Shirley Ruth Limbeck Meixner.
Richard lived a life marked by steady faith, generous service, and a quiet strength that lifted others. His devotion to his Christian beliefs shaped the way he moved through the world—with compassion, humility, and a sincere concern for those around him.
He served in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica and Peru, offering his time and talents in a spirit of selfless commitment. Throughout his life, he found community and spiritual grounding at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, and he also found fellowship at Calvary Church during the years he lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Richard earned a PhD in soil chemistry, bringing both discipline and curiosity to his work and interests. That knowledge and care were reflected in the exceptional gardens he grew—patiently cultivated, thoughtfully tended, and generously enjoyed. He also had a profound love of reading and an extensive library with titles ranging from science fiction to theology, psychology, political science and more.
Those who knew him best remember not only his kindness and integrity, but also the warmth of his humor. Friends lovingly called him “Meixner Trickster,” a nickname that captured the lightness he carried and the joy he brought into everyday moments. Richard was a devoted boy scout in his younger years, and kept that adventurous spirit in his adult years. He found delight in hiking, exploring national parks with his daughter, Emma, and the companionship of his black lab, Dusty.
Richard found beauty in life's quiet moments and simple wonders. A blooming flower, the changing seasons, or radiant sunrise could bring him joy. He lived with an appreciation for the world around him and a belief that even the smallest things can hold the greatest beauty. He will be deeply missed and gratefully remembered.
Surviving are his daughter, Emma Munholland; son-in-law, Chris Munholland; grandchildren, Gunnar and Isla Munholland, all of Loveland; sisters, Cindy Brouilette of Carnation, WA, Tina Borba of La Pine, OR; nieces, Brady, Danielle, Natasha, Maegan; and nephew, Christopher.
In addition to his parents Shirley and Eugene, he is preceded in death his beloved sister, Janet.
