Roger gave his heart to Jesus when he was only eight years old at a tent meeting in Omaha, Nebraska. At that age he wasn’t sure what had happened. But we serve a faithful God. Many years later, Roger once again gave his heart to Jesus watching a Billy Graham crusade on television.
Roger and his twin brother, Richard, were born on April 1, 1939. It was a surprise to his parents that they had twins. Unfortunately, Roger and Richard did not have a very stable home life. However, when the boys were about 13 years old, they moved to the Masonic Home for Boys in Omaha. Once there, they flourished and had caring house parents.
They both graduated from Benson High School in Omaha, Nebraska. Roger and Richard joined the Navy shortly after graduation. Roger was assigned to a heavy cruiser, the USS Rochester. He was only 18 years old when he and his crew mates arrived in Sydney, Australia. Years later, Roger met his ship’s captain on a pleasure cruise vacation.
Upon leaving the Navy, Roger had several jobs. Eventually, he opened a restaurant and taco stand. But he found his calling when he became a contractor for his own company, Roger Kletke Construction. He would buy houses, remodel them and rent them out. He also performed other projects in Redding, California.
On one project, he met George Russell (now deceased). Roger became a very close friend of George, who mentored Roger in the Christian faith. As a result, Roger was very active in his church and was such a blessing to so many.
In 2018, Roger moved from Redding, California to Loveland, Colorado to marry Lorrie "Susie" Guhlow, who was a widow. They were also cousins.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife Irene and his twin brother. He is survived by his loving wife Lorrie "Susie" Kletke, his stepsons Dave (Audra) Dubler and John (Anne) Dubler, and by his step-grandchildren: Noah Dubler and Lilli Dubler. Additionally, he is survived by his stepdaughters Catherine (Dave) Mitchell and Joanna (John) Visser, as well as cousins, nephews and nieces. Roger left behind many dear friends in both California and Colorado.
Services will be held on March 14, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Foundations Church, Loveland, Colorado. Those that may not be able to attend in person may join virtually via livestream at live.foundationschurch.org. Memories and condolences may be shared at allnuttloveland.com.
