Ronald (Ron) James Helart (88) of Loveland, CO, died December 3rd, 2023. He was born in Denver, CO on May 10, 1935 to Frank and Kathryn Helart. He was the oldest of three children. His family moved to Boulder, CO where he attended Sacred Heart Catholic School through 8th grade. He then transferred to Boulder High School where he was the captain of his wrestling team.
Ron attended CU-Boulder on a wrestling scholarship. He joined the USMC in 1953 and spent the next eight years in California and South Korea.
He married Barbara (Bobbi) Smoot in 1952. They lived in the Denver-Boulder area until 2001, when they moved to Loveland. Ron was a registered land surveyor and had his own business for a time. He also owned a restaurant-bar and managed several others. He was a member of the American Legion and Lake Valley Golf Club. He loved playing golf and watching sports, especially football and his beloved Raiders. He and Bobbi had season tickets to the CU Buffs for many years.
Ron was a beloved son, brother, husband, uncle and friend. He touched the lives of many with his warmth, kindness and unwavering generosity. Ron is survived by his wife Bobbi, his brother and wife Richard and Dianna Helart, many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
May Ron rest in eternal peace, and may his spirit continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
