In the early morning of March 11, 2020, Rudy left those who loved him to spend eternity with The Lord. Rudy was born in Waterloo, Iowa on August 9, 1959 to Percy C. Eilers and Pauline Elizabeth Eilers (Huch). In late 1960, at 14 month of age, he travelled with his parents, older sister Lori and infant sister, Renee to Southern California, settling in El Monte. He was a lover of life, adventure, music, learning and following the teachings of The Bible. His sense of humor was quick, playful and sometime mischievous. He loved to make people smile and laugh.
He graduated from Arroyo High School June 1977 and entered the Airforce where he trained as an electrician. During these years, he found his life’s direction through serving Jesus Christ. After his honorable discharge from his service to the United States, he traveled the world in missionary work. During these years he obtained a Master’s Degree in ESL from The University of Maryland, teaching the English language to many around the world.
He returned to the United States and began a life of family and continued service to the Lord while raising his son, Joseph and daughter, Lydia in Northern Colorado. They spent several years in Missionary work in Germany then finally returned permanently to Colorado. His children were the light of his life and he was extremely proud of their desires to live their lives serving The Lord. He worked in Construction and Maintenance until the cancer to which he finally succumbed, ended his working career.
He found his home at Calvary Baptist Temple, singing with Lydia at many services. His fellow congregants became his friends and family. Pastor Park Sutton was his closest confidant and friend who helped him with life decisions and supported Rudy throughout his illness.
Rudy left behind those who loved him, his son Joseph, daughter Lydia, siblings and their spouses, Lori Marshall (Jeff), Fort Mohave, AZ, Renee Christenson (Bob), Chico, CA, Tom Eilers (Wendy), Statesville, NC, nieces Naomi, Tabitha, Cassie, Alicia, Samantha, Amanda and Kayla, and nephew, Asher along with many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. He has joined in Heaven those who left before him, parents Percy and Pauline and nephew Matthew along with his grandparents, several uncles, aunts and cousins.
Services will be held Thursday, March 18, 2020. Military service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, promptly at 2:15. A celebration of Rudy’s life will be held at Calvary Baptist Temple, Fort Collins, Colorado, 6pm.
