She dedicated her life to the education and success of children and taught multiple generations of 3, 4, and 5 year olds in Poudre Valley School District Head Start. More than anything, Ruth was known for the way she loved people. She was extraordinarily warm, accepting, and kind, welcoming everyone with an open heart and making those around her feel comfortable being exactly who they were. Her extensive network of family and friends was a testament to the many lives she touched throughout her years. Ruth had a special ability to make people feel seen, heard, and loved, and her friendships were treasured and lasting.
She is survived by her children Ron (Colleen), Michael (Michelle), Aimee and Laura (Greg); her eight grandchildren Michael, Brendan (Maggie), Carter, Logan, Dylan, Amelia, Eleanor, and Clara; and her sister Laura (Patrick) as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her daughter Jennifer, her niece Terri, her cherished sisters Patricia, Nancy, Martha, and Susan, and her parents Mickey and Martha.
Ruth was a devoted mother to a daughter with severe developmental disabilities and relentlessly pursued education and advocacy for special needs students and their parents. We are so proud of the work she did and the impact she had on so many families. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to Horizons Specialized Services (www.horizonsnwc.org) a Colorado organization that provides services to adults and children with disabilities.
We will have a Celebration of Life for Ruth on September 12th from 1-3 pm at the Cleveland Room, 201 E. 4th Street in Loveland.
