Shauna was a friend and fabulous pottery teacher. I met her in Jackson along w her friend Elaine Laviage  when they were patrons of the Foxy Lady Salon. I loved Shauna and she was the kindest, most loving woman I’ve had the opportunity to know. Peace and Love.

My Mom’s favorite ride is Small World (at least I hope it is since we rode it so often).

We didn’t know here how short of time we had left with her.

Mom was fun to be around and thoughtfully engaged.

Thinking about Shauna brings a warm smile and numerous happy memories for me.  She was a joy and inspiration to listen to or be 
with.  I admired her interest and outlook concerning many and varied topics.
Her family meant everything to Shauna.  It was always fun to hear about some recent 
happening! 
Fond memories of Shauna will remain with me 
as having her as my friend was truly a Blessing!

Godspeed to our beautiful longtime friend. We were were blessed by your grace and caring ways. Your presence not only made our lives brighter but your kindness and generosity left the world in a better place. Keep your love lights shining in the hereafter. We will watch for them.

Grandmother was always tricking me into taking road trips with her. One of my favorites of these instances was when I came to visit her in early fall the year I graduated from college. I was living in Aspen, Colorado, not far from her condo in Fort Collins, so I planned to drop in and stay with her for a weekend then make my way back to Aspen. Turns out, we had other plans… I just wasn’t privy to them. She and I were to drive to Utah together for an appointment with her favorite chiropractor, Dr. Lafferty. She’d already booked the hotel and made all the arrangements, we just needed to make the quick little seven hour drive. 

As a kid, grandmother and I spent countless hour road-tripping together. I remember it all vividly— the loony tunes seatbelt cover across my chest, the smell of the hand lotion she kept in her center console, the seat-back organizer stuffed full of coloring books and special road trip toys. It felt like the whole world was ours to explore and we could take our time doing it. These road trips are some of my fondest memories not just of my grandmother, but of my childhood. 

It had been years since our last road trip together. But as we loaded into the car and began the drive to Utah, we fell into the familiar rhythm of two people who knew how to be in a car together for hours on end.

And we had such a wonderful time. We stopped at Starbucks and ordered venti black iced teas— her signature drink. We visited monuments and she let me choose the music. At one point she insisted that we pull off on the side of the road to admire the towering red canyons of Utah. She wanted to make sure I took a good picture of them. 

This surprise trip to Utah, it turns out, was such a gift. I didn’t realize it until years later, but I needed it as much as she did. Maybe more. In this strange new post-college “adult” world, it was a grounding glimmer of my childhood. And I think she knew that. It’s a memory that I’ll cherish for the rest of my days.
