Shirley Ruth Koenig

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom & MeMaw, who departed this life on October 28, 2025 at the age of 87, at home in Berthoud. She was surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of love, beauty, and cherished memories.

Shirley Ruth was born on April 25, 1938. She grew up in Austin along with her siblings, Betty Sedwick Shelton, Jack Sedwick, and Roy Sedwick. Shirley was known for her creativity, generosity, and sense of humour. Once you met her, you always remembered her. As a devoted wife, Mom, sister and friend, Shirley was the heart of the family.

She is survived by a brother, Roy Sedwick, two of her children, LaNell and Russell, as well as 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Koenig (BawBaw), and daughter, Lara Ann Laird, (Spike), and brother Jack Sedwick.

We will always remember Shirley for her passion in art, gardening, special recipes, fun stories about family, and giving advice. She was also very dedicated to her career as an artist and published author. She leaves behind a wealth of memories that will be cherished forever by all who knew her.

A memorial service honouring and celebrating Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 3:00 p.m., at Pioneer Park, Indiana Avenue & E. Second St., Berthoud, CO. Friends and family are invited to attend and share their memories.

Shirley’s light continues to shine in the hearts of all who loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
