

Steve is survived by his four children and six grandchildren: daughter Rene (Dan) Fesmire and their children Mitchell and Maddie; son Matt (Nozomi) Blom; daughter Elizabeth Blom and her children Gavin and Olivia (Brandon) and their daughter Genevieve; step-son Kyle (Sara) Fischer and their daughters Wrigley and Piper; his sister Donna (Bruce) Bartelli and their daughters; Lindsey (Fred) Turner, their children Chase (Kalyn) and Kylie; Laurie (Jason) Williams and son Asher. He is also survived by his first wife, Cathy (McCay) Partain.
Steve was born October 6, 1947 to E.L.“Al” Blom and Faye Wilson Blom in Kansas City, Missouri. His father preceded him in death on January 31, 2005, and his mother preceded him in death on October 13, 2012. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Deborah (Nannen) Blom who passed away February 16, 2022.
Upon graduation from high school in Pittsburg, Kansas he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Pittsburg State University and then a Masters of Business Administration from Wichita State University. He was proud to be a Veteran of the United States Army. He served as Officer and Captain from 1972 - 1981 with assignments in San Antonio, Texas, Honolulu, Hawaii and Ft. Riley, Kansas.
After leaving the army, Steve led a successful career in Health Administration. Stops along the way included: Director of Personnel and Finance at Big Lakes Developmental Center in Manhattan, KS. Director of the University Health Center at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE. Executive Director at American College Health Association in Rockville, MD. Independent Health Care and Insurance Consultant in Rockville, MD. Director of Ambulatory Services at ASG Management Company in Fairfax, VA. Director Student Health & Wellness Center at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. His last big move was in 1999 to Windsor, CO where he retired as Executive Director, CSU Health Network at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO in 2011.
Steve enjoyed travel, good food, wine and music, watching sports, attending cultural events and visits with family. He loved meeting new people and made friends everywhere he went. If you had a minute, he would share a great story or two. His love for life, his wit, his sense of humor and his laughter will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life will be held at Allnutt Funeral Service - Hunter Chapter in Loveland, Colorado (2100 N Lincoln Ave) at 11:00 am on December 7, 2024.
