Steven Wayne Brim died all too soon on November 29, 2025. He was born on April 7, 1960 in McCook, Nebraska to his parents Jack and Kathy (Knaus) Brim. He led a very full and active life attending District 8 elementary and middle schools in McCook, Nebraska and graduating from McCook High School. He worked at Hinky Dinky throughout high school and after graduation worked at Burlington Northern Railroad for six years.
His next chapter started at McCook Community College, followed by Kearney State University, and the University of Nebraska where he earned an Associate of Arts, a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Masters of Science in Speech/Language Pathology. That wasn’t quite enough for Steve though, he went on to obtain a degree in nursing too! He worked in Kansas, Florida and Wyoming before settling in Colorado where his gift of working with preschool children with speech/language disorders would span 20 years.
Steve was also an avid college football fan being a Nebraska Cornhusker first and a Colorado Buffalo second. Throughout his life he enjoyed many activities including racquetball, tennis, cycling, skiing, walking his Newfoundlands, and getting on the ground to play with his grandkids. Steve also loved spending time with his wife and family at the family cabin on Glendo Reservoir in Wyoming as well as trips to Mexico with his wife Robin.
He was able to enjoy 18 months of retirement continuing his desire to read and discover more about his faith. He belonged to a men’s group at Foundations Church which provided him much support in his desire to be more open and intentional in sharing his faith in Jesus Christ with those he cared for including family, coworkers and friends.
Steve and Robin lived out a powerful marriage of love and commitment to one another that extended to the rest of their family, especially the grandchildren he adored and who affectionately called him “Poppy”. Steve always demonstrated a wit that often pointed back at himself in pure humility. He left impressions of kindness, humility, grace, and laughter with anyone he touched. He will be sorely missed.
Preceding Steve in death were his parents, in-laws Bernard and Sue (Diehl) Dempsey, niece Brandi Bahe, and brother in-law Patrick Dempsey.
He is survived by his wife Robin; children Jessica (John) Raia, Alex (Alexandra) Katzer, Nick (Trista) Katzer and Kaitlin (Jon) Minassian; grandchildren Lake, William, Greyson, Levee, Sage and Isla Rose. His much loved siblings and their children also survive him: brother Mark (Sharon) Brim, sisters Linda (Terry) Bahe and Deanna (Greg) Newell; nieces and nephews Tasha, Travis, Tania, Brook, Brenae, Brylee, Derek, and Chase. He will also be missed by his brother-in-law Stephen (Laura) Dempsey along with many great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
