

Steven Alan Henni was born January 18, 1955 to Jerrol and Reva (Rochlitz) Henni, being welcomed home by his sister Kathy. He grew up on the farm 18 miles southeast of Julesburg. Steve attended Julesburg High School, graduating in 1973. He then attended Northeastern Junior College, graduating in 1975.
In college, Steve was a member of College Singers, MENC president, a member of Campus activities board, and President of Williams dorm.
Steve served his community as an elected town councilman, booster club president, car club president and treasurer of the Holyoke chamber of commerce.
Steve enjoyed many jobs, working for KNEnergy for 17 years. His favorite field was finance. He was a loan officer for several years providing loans for cars, houses, farm land and commercial needs as well. He was married to Daphny Hobelman for almost 27 years, and to this Union were born Isaiah, Jeremiah and Shainah.
Steve accepted Jesus in 1971, began writing a column for a Christian newspaper in 1973, and helped establish a Christian coffee shop in 1974. In 1977, he toured with a christian puppet show through 8 states in 1977. He later helped establish a Christian youth center in Julesburg, and volunteered with A.N.T.S (A Need to Serve) to clean up after tornadoes in Holly and Windsor. Throughout his life, he taught numerous adult, teen and children's Sunday school classes. He completed the thru the bible 5 year program by J. Vernon McGee multiple times. He served his churches by singing on the worship team and a Christian quartet. He was an elder for several years, and enjoyed helping cook and serve for numerous Christian events.
He was active in men's championship basketball 1975-1977 and coed championship volleyball for several years.
In 2011, Steve married Diane Wise. Together, they led weekly prison ministry and established a radio program called Hope Transformed, which aired on a Denver radio station for several years.
In 2012, he suffered several strokes that left him disabled, but he continued to volunteer in spite of these difficulties. They continued to hold Chapel services at a truck stop for several years and volunteered at the nursing home to lead Bible bingo. He appeared on Unscripted, a Christian outreach during the pandemic, and started "Moments of Hope", an online devotional. They also volunteered at the Julesburg Welcome Center.
In 2022, Steve lost Diane to cancer.
In 2024, he met Janice Wager. They were married on December 7, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jerrol and Reva Henni, sister Kathy Peterson, son Jeremiah Henni, and his wife Diane Henni. He leaves behind his wife Janice (Wager) Henni, her family, son Isaiah (Sara) Henni, daughter Shaniah Henni, grandsons Zane, Zaiden, Zedekiah, and granddaughter Patience Pritchard.
