She is survived by her husband Michael D. Fister, mother “Betty” Elizabeth Henson, and her siblings Marianne L Davis, Barbara T Owens, Raymond C Henson, Jr. and Rosemarie J Shockley, 11 nieces and nephews, 13 great nieces and nephews and a great grand niece and nephew. Susan held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews.
Susan and Mike, along with being married, were true soul mates. If any two people brought out the best in the other, it would be Susan and Mike. Together they were better than the sum of their parts. Halloween was Susan’s favorite holiday and they would dress up in costumes and go out together with friends at their favorite gathering place.
Susan loved to do, whether it was traveling with Mike, or family, or simply suggesting outing with her friends. Susan was always the initiator of adventures. Her friends and family cherished the time spent traveling, the trails explored together, and the shared laughter.
Her passion was her love of dogs and wildlife in general. She was always ready to meet and love animals whether a dog at any rescue society, a baby rhinoceros or lion cub in South Africa, a macaw in Mexico or predators at the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado. Susan often donated to animal shelters with love in her heart.
Susan received her Associate of Applied Science degree in accounting and had a long career in accounting. She worked for many years in the Ace Hardware in Longmont Co as a bookkeeper and other financial exploits included being the cashier for the frequent yard sales her family hosted.
Born July 18, 1965 in St Louis, MO to Elizabeth Ann Groppe Henson and Raymond Christian Henson.
Susan was preceded in death by her father. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Rest in Peace in the arms of our Lord, dear precious one.
In lieu of flowers, Susan would have appreciated knowing that a donation was made in her memory to any charitable organization that inspires the giver. Supporting a meaningful cause would be a fitting tribute to her legacy.
“Don’t be dismayed at good-byes, a farewell is necessary before you can meet again.”
