Vernie Campbell of Loveland went home to Jesus on October 23, 2018. Vernie King was born January 28, 1954 in Radford, Virginia and was the daughter of Walter and Naomi Pickle. She was raised in Bluffton, Indiana and met her husband David in high school. After graduating from Oral Roberts University with a degree in English she and David were married in 1976. They began the adventure of their lives together in Boise, Idaho, where Vernie worked as a technical writer.
Upon the birth of their children Liane and Brian, she discovered her true calling to be their teacher. From kindergarten to high school, Vernie home schooled the children teaching them to excel and develop a passion for learning. The passion carried them far, with Liane now a pediatrician and Brian an electrical engineer.
Vernie’s spirit came to life in three ways – as Grammy, time with her beloved friends, and enjoying the summer. There was nothing she loved more than “Grammy Days” with her grandsons, playing games, reading books, teaching and loving them. Time with her friends included deep conversations, sharing true life and lots of laughter. And her summers were filled with slalom water skiing, stand up paddle boarding and swimming and boating with her family and friends.
Vernie’s trust and love of Christ filled her soul and we take comfort she is now celebrating in heaven with her Lord and Savior.
Vernie is survived by her loving husband David of 42 years, her daughter Liane Campbell (husband Jason Bacha), her son Brian Campbell (wife Sheena), and her two wonderful grandsons, Moses and Isaac.
A celebration of Vernie’s life will be held at 4pm, Nov. 2 at Good Shepherd Church, 3429 N. Monroe, Loveland with reception following. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to http://give.texaschildrens.org/goto/VernieCampbell. This is the pediatric clinic where Dr. Liane and Dr. Jason provide medical care for vulnerable children and adolescents in southern Tanzania.
