William Warren "Will" Gilstrap, 63, of Firestone, Colorado, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, in Platteville, Colorado, doing what he loved most—riding his motorcycle. He was born on November 15, 1961, in Wichita, Kansas, to Lee and Grace (Williams) Gilstrap.
Will was raised in Thornton, Colorado. On April 13, 1985, he married the love of his life, Lynnette Arroyo, in Denver, Colorado.
Will was a dedicated maintenance technician, last working with the St. Vrain Valley School District (SVVSD) as an Electronics Technician. At SVVSD, he found an amazing community and added to his already vast group of loyal friends. He was well-loved and respected. Will loved sharing his knowledge, and many viewed him as a mentor. Everyone in the maintenance department (and the breakfast club, and many others) are, simply put, part of the Gilstrap family. Dylan Tomczak, his right-hand man, is an honorary Gilstrap son and sibling.
It goes without saying that Will’s biggest passion was motorcycles. He always had a new project! If he wasn’t working hard, he was tinkering with his motorcycles in the garage and taking them out for rides with his buddies.
Will liked being busy. He was the kind of guy who could fix or build anything—and he did. He was unwaveringly committed to maintaining his home and yard. He had a special talent for keeping things perfectly in place and an equally special talent for telling his children when they didn't.
Will grew up camping all around the Rocky Mountains. For the past 25 years, he spent as much time as he could fit in each summer camping on his mountain property in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado.
Will fiercely loved his wife, children, friends, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and, most of all, his best friend, Scrappy Doo. He especially loved it when the family came up to the mountain property, where he enjoyed four-wheeling, cooking meals, sitting around the campfire telling stories, and putting family to work (which he called “sweat equity”). He loved loading everyone up in his Ranger and taking them to the top of Black Mountain to enjoy the ride and see the views.
Will loved taking road trips with his family to various National Parks and camping. He especially loved traveling the world and, more recently, taking cruises with his wife, Lynnette.
Will is survived by his wife, Lynnette Gilstrap; daughters, Sondra Gilstrap (Donald Reynolds), Sarah Gilstrap (Josh Ross), and Donna Avalos (Javier Avalos); son, Xzavier Gilstrap; father-in-law, James Arroyo; sisters, Linda Fresquez, Betty Chinn, and Patricia Donelson; brothers, Dan Gilstrap, Steve Gilstrap, Tim Gilstrap, Ron Gilstrap, and Richard Gilstrap; and his grandchildren, Abigail Gilstrap, Santiago Avalos, Guillermo Avalos, Quinn Reynolds, Chayce Reynolds, and the youngest, Jeremiah Bacchetta. He is also survived by many extended family members and his best friend, his dog, Scrappy Doo.
Will was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Gilstrap and Grace Gilstrap; his mother-in-law, Ramona Arroyo; brothers, Robert Gilstrap, Tom Gilstrap, and Jim Gilstrap; sister-in-law, Claudette Montour; niece, Dominique Hernandez; and nephew, Joshua Montano.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 715 Cabrini Dr., Lafayette, Colorado. A reception will immediately follow.
