He was born on August 14, 1943, in San Diego, California to James B. and Frances O. Hamlin.
Bill grew up with a deep appreciation for nature and a sense of adventure that carried through his whole life. After graduating from Colorado State University in 1967 with a degree in Biological Sciences, he proudly served his country as a medic in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. A role that reflected his lifelong compassion and sense of service. Throughout his career Bill brought dedication and heart to his work in the California Fish and Wildlife Department, Roseburg Lumber Company in California and Porter Industries in Colorado.
Bill’s life was filled with friendships, adventures and joy. In 2019, he was deeply honored to take part in the Honor Flight to visit the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C. – a trip that held great meaning for him. He was an avid sports fan who loved cheering for the Colorado Avalanche and the Eagles. He could often be found on the dance floor enjoying square dancing and round dancing. He was an avid gardener, loved to hike, play tennis and swim. Music, especially Dixieland jazz, was one of his great loves. He was a member of the local fishing club and VFW Post 15.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Frances Hamlin. He is survived by his sister, Sharon Lundt, and her special friend Neil Lambert; his nephews, Jack (Sandra) Lundt, Rick Lundt and friend, Nickolette, and Tim (Debi) Lundt and their family; cousins, Pam Whelden, Boni Freeman and Maureen Johnson; his dear friend, Karen Reimer and many extended family members and wonderful friends.
