Mr James was my little league coach.  I lived in lower lake and have such great memories of coach james/counselor.

Bob James was my favorite teacher at Lower Lake High, he treated everybody with respect and affection. He truly cared. Always cheerful and smiling, never too busy to say hello. He will be missed by many.

Even though time ticks on for all of us, it is still a shock when we lose someone who is greatly loved as a teacher, counselor, mentor and all around great person of the community.  I will miss you much Mr. Robert James.

Mr. James, you touched so many lives at LLHS.  Your wisdom, understanding and caring was like no other(s).  Your smile would light up any room.  Thank you for all of your support for LLHS athletics..I can't ever remember you missing a game.  Thank you too for supporting me during the rough times ( my Mom's accident).  You told me she would pull through and not to give up.  Guess what.....you were right!  You will be missed dearly as you touched so many lives.

I will always remember Mr. James as one of my favorite teachers and a true inspiration (Class of '66). My sincere sympathy goes out to the James family. I am so sorry for your loss.

Very saddened to hear of Mr. James's passing...his counsel and concern continued long after our high school years.

As I reflect on the guest book signings, my own included. I realize the impact Mr. James has had on so many. I noted the locations of many from Indianapolis to Texas, Colorado, Oregon and beyond. His great counsel, attitude and teachings are now reaching across this country. He WILL certainly be missed, but more important, his impression is now being spread around the country to guide others. What a Blessing to so many more. Again My prayers to the family.

As one of 5 children raised by a single mom in Clearlake, I relied heavily on Mr. Robert James' words of wisdom in my mad scramble for college financial assistance & scholarships.  He invested in me, including priceless tips on how to put my best foot forward while applying and interviewing.  I'm now beginning my 28th year as a School Psychologist.  Thank you so much Mr. Robert James for inspiring my career choice and for launching me on my way.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Rober was the best teacher I ever had, he was a joy to be around and motivated me with his leadership and directon. Our Prayers are with the James family.

Sitting here bawling my eyes out. Feeling so much love and tenderness and gratitude for a man I have not seen in almost 50 years.  Mr. James, you were the biggest influence in my life. I know this is true. You believed in me, so naturally and so automatically that I was floored by your trust and expectation that I would succeed and live up to my potential. I was a senior in high school and, because I got good grades, was allowed to be your assistant in your guidance counseling office for one period a day. You treated me as an equal and a friend, and your casual “Where are you going to college?” stunned me, as I had no plans of doing anything beyond getting a secretarial job and getting married. When I told you this, you looked at me in amazement and consternation. “You ARE going to college!” you said. I think I then mumbled that no one in my family had ever gone to college, and besides, there was no way I could afford it, etc., etc.. You sat me right down and handed me scholarship applications. Long story short, I ended up graduating from UC Davis and went on to become a journalist and editor, teacher and workshop facilitator in both the U.S. and Australia. I can't imagine the life I have without you having believed in me and showing me how to walk through each step to get through the college doors. Mr. James came to Lower Lake High at the beginning of our Junior year (Class of '61) to be our class advisor and English instructor. He was very young, only about ten years older than most of us, yet he gained our respect and earned our admiration right away. He always had a quick smile and a friendly but no nonsense manner about him. He made us feel he cared about us. He never missed one of our functions until our 2010 class reunion. He will always be remembered with fondness. And he will be missed.

So sorry to hear this news, my love goes out to Gail, Dougie, Claudia, and Robert. May God be shinning down on all of his Legacy. For me he was a charming, witty and wonderful man. A true advocate and mentor for the Willis Children during very turbulant years in our family. I loved him very much.

I'm so sorry to hear we lost another amazing man. I don't recall too much about my time at Lower Lake H.S, but one of my fondest memories is the great teacher, and friendship he has with all his students/peers. He always had kind words of encouragement to all. My condolences to the James family.

I  have been blessed to have one of the most incredible H S counsellors (1966-1969) He encouraged me and kept me going when I wanted to give up! Amazing teacher--Mr. James actually taught & didn't just pull a paycheck! He was a friend to the Diener family as well and our lives are richer for it. Thank you, you will be missed!

To Robert, Gail and Doug with deepest sympathy to all of you on the passing of your dad.  He was a great man and I loved and truly respected him.  He was there for me in my times of need. I spent alot of time at the James house and was always welcomed.  I will truly miss our yearly christmas card exchange from him with the updates and words of wisdom on himself and the family. I first met Bob James in Davenport, Iowa when he came to see his son Robert graduate from Chiropractic College.  Before he left he told me if I ever come to California, I would have a place to stay.  A month later I did move to California. Bob was an amazing father-in-law and grandfather to our two children Angela and Robert Lee James,IV!  Thank you for all of the love you have shown us!

Always a pleasant word, always a patient man. God bless you Mr James for all your wisdom and kind heart. You touched so many lives in such a positive way. So many good memories.

There are no words to express the love I have for this man. His beautiful smile, encouragement, positive support, non-judgmental, caring and loving personality was not like many others I have met. He was an amazing man that I had the honor to spend many of my childhood years with and always have right down the street. I was honored with his presence at my wedding as so many others were as well. I was never so happy as to tell him of my life changes a few years ago and be honored to here his kind words and feel his gentle hug, telling me how happy he was for me. "I love ya Sher" is what he said. It meant the world to me. To Doug, Robert and Gail , I give you my deepest sympathy and love.
