He was born in Manhattan, New York, on December 9, 1936. Albert married the love of his life, Emma Sianez on June 12, 1958. They were married for 62 years until her recent passing November 30, 2020.
He was extremely proud serving his country, served two tours in Vietnam, a graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy and Military Award, Bronze Star (3 oak clusters) for Meritorious Service.
After serving 28 years in the Army, he moved his family to Lubbock in 1985 to attend Texas Tech University to study Agriculture.
Albert’s passion was his family and he also enjoyed, agriculture, gardening, traveling, and feeding the local birds.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Lawton Childs and Marion Louise Keller; two brothers, Frank L. Childs, Jr., and James K. Childs, Sr.
He is survived by three sons: Albert, Kenneth, and Paul; daughter-in-law, Teresa M. Childs; granddaughters, Emily (Carlos) and Marie.
Albert will be forever remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, precious uncle and loving and caring friend.
