Alicia Bentancourt Hernandez, also known as Memo by her grandchildren, was born in Pearsall, Texas on June 21, 1944 and was the first of eight children to Jesus Bentancourt and Petra Garcia Bentancourt.
Alicia worked most of her life in housekeeping and worked at Paddle Tramps Mfg. in assembly where she retired April 6, 2009. She met her husband, Frank Hernandez, while attending church and they were married September 23, 1995. She was a member of the Dream Center where she regularly attended.
She was a great blessing to her family who knew her to be a loving, caring, hard working and incredibly giving woman. Although she loved her family dearly the love of her cats could also never go unnoticed. On a typical day you would have seen her holding at least one of the five cats she owned in her lap while sitting on her recliner watching Little House on the Prairie.
She was a woman of great faith who put her trust in the Lord above all and personally knew him as her Lord and Savior. She was a strong-willed, intelligent woman who would give over and beyond her means, even if it left her with nothing; a woman, who saw commitments through, never broke her word, and based her entire life on faith and hope; a warrior of a woman who had been through so much in her life but never showed it. She laughed often and her laugh was contagious leaving those in the same room as her with a smile on their face. We will miss you so much, Memo. We were not ready to let you go but we find peace knowing you are now with our Lord, and one day, your family will see you again.
