Allen was born in Eugene, OR on August 30, 1956, to the late Bernard Keith Reid and Jodie Claudine Zuber.
He lived most of his life in Lubbock, where he attended Monterey High School. After high school enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served during the end of the Vietnam War reading reconnaissance film.
Allen and Kathy married November 23, 1979 and had four sons. He worked mainly in maintenance and eventually specialized in Air Conditioning, Heating and Plumbing where he started A Reid’s Air Conditioning, Heating, and Plumbing in 2016. Allen had many loves in his life. He was a very proud father of his sons and grandchildren, first and foremost. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, lending a helping hand to those in need, sharing Gods’ word with family, friends and those who needed it. He loved to fish, play any instrument of his choosing, but mostly the guitar. He enjoyed his time in the band at church and the many fellowships that followed. He also loved to go to the Rangers games, the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech games, where we would have to leave if they were losing – most times to find out they won in the end. Allen gave with a giving heart, never expecting anything in return, he would plant the seed and nurture it if anyone asked for more help.
Allen was preceded in death by his sisters Sheryl Bennett and Sherry Bennett.
Those left to cherish a life well lived are his mother and dad (Jodie and Wilburn Zuber). His wife Kathy and his four sons; Jason (Kimberly), Aaron (Erika), David and Matthew (Jenna). Papa’s grandchildren, Dillion, Kielah, Jaidan, Logan, Atticus, Wyatt, Oliver and Emerson. Also, Al and Claudine Howard, Shannon and Sharon, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
