Alta was born July 25, 1930 in Hobbs, Texas to Thomas and Vivian Lay. She married Gerald Keith Snowden on October 17, 1948 in Fisher County. The couple moved to Wolfforth in January 1948. Although a quiet woman, Alta was a strong Christian woman and the cornerstone of her family, whom she loved with all her heart. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Monterey Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Keith and parents Thomas and Vivian.
Those left to cherish her memory are brother Boyce Lay of Odessa, TX; children, Mike Snowden of Lubbock; Diane Gililland of Lubbock; Gary Snowden and his wife Ruth of Lubbock; Grandchildren, Chad Gililland of Denver, CO; Chase Snowden of Fargo, ND; Matt Snowden of Lubbock; Crista Saunders of Roanoke, VA; Sheena Bauman and Jared Snowden both of Little Rock, AR; four great grandchildren.
