Services for Amalia Salazar, 86, formerly of Lubbock, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Abdon Oropeza officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven. Miss Salazar went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 11th.
Amalia was born on July 24, 1924 in Minnesota to Roman and Celsa Salazar. She retired from Texas Tech University and was a former member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by four brothers; Faustino, Salvador, Domingo, and Ezequiel; and a sister, Gregoria.
Survivors include five nephews, Gabriel, Gilbert, Carlos, Rene and Jesus Salazar; and nine nieces, Esther Garcia, Graciela Salazar, Delia Salazar, Dora Elia Sanchez, Rosantina Salazar, Azucena Dominguez, Hilda Valle, Ofelia Canales, and Leticia Rocha.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, from 7-8 p.m.
