Ana Eugenia Ruano

Ana Eugenia Ruano died on her birthday, Sunday, May 10, 2020. We will gather to recite the Holy Rosary Wednesday at 6:00 pm at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Please sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy at www.memorialdesigners.netAna Eugenia Ruano was born on May 10, 1945, to Saturnino Ruano and Carmen de Ruano in Guatemala. Ana married Fernando Danilo at the age of 34 and started their new family with Ana Fernanda, Daniella, and Danilo.  After being married for eight years, Ana faced a new chapter in her life with her husband’s losing battle to cancer. Thanks to the support of her close family she stepped up to provide for her three children as she was forced to take upon the roll of mother and father.  Ana always proved to be a good friend, always offering her support, comfort, and guidance to those that needed it, in doing so gained their admiration and respect. She strived to live her life with the example of St. Mother Teresa’s “do small things with great love”. Ana worked for Aviateca for almost 20 years and then for 33 years at the United Nations Development Program in Guatemala.  She was committed to an impeccable work ethic and being the best version of herself. Shortly after her retirement she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was a survivor for 15 years. Ana's ability to adapt to change was admirable.  After Daniella and Danilo decided to move to Lubbock, Texas in 2005, the rest of the family finally made the decision to relocate to Lubbock in 2014 to join them.  Ana’s grandkids were her joy and she got to see them being raised with the same love and values that she had given to her own children.  Ana prayed daily and she was close to God. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of going to mass together and keeping our faith particularly during the hard times.Survivors include her two daughters, Ana and Gerardo Redondo; Daniella and Steven Wever; son, Danilo and Lupita DeLeon; grandchildren, Diego, Ana, Nicolle and Mateo; and two sisters, Josefina Ruano, and Sylvia Ruano.She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Fernando D. De Leon; and three brothers, Raul Ruano, Chema Ruano, and Jorge Ruano.
