Arthur Clay “A.C.” Black passed away Sunday August 25, 2013 in Lubbock. AC was born January 17, 1923 in Altus OK to Irva and Verbia Black. He graduated from Lawton High School in Lawton,OK . He married Jane Maupin April 18, 1943. AC served 3 years in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He moved to Lubbock in the early 50’s where he owned Ace Dis-tributors, a food brokerage company, for over 20years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Downtown Bible Class.
AC is survived by 3 daughters, Sandi Housouer of Addison, TX, Debra Gafford and husband Gary of Lubbock, and Amy Whittle and husband West of Lubbock; 6 grandchildren, Mark Smith and wife Pam of Dallas, David Smith and wife Kate of Austin, Hilary Beavis and husband James of Richardson, TX, Whitney Gafford of Lubbock, Justin Headley of Lubbock and Allison Headley of Dallas; 7 great-grandchildren, Christopher McSpadden and wife Carmen of Quanah, TX, Markus and Ryan Smith of Dallas, Cameron, Avery and Spencer Smith of Austin and Henry Beavis of Richardson, TX; 2 great-great-granddaughters, Leslie and Kyla McSpadden of Quanah.
Visitation will be held tonight from 7 to 8 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
