Arturo Ernesto Saldivar
August 5, 1954 – January 11, 2021
Arturo Ërnest Saldivar gained his wing on January 11, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas.
He was the proprietor of Elite Automotive and Body Works for 35 years. He was dedicated to his craft and also spent some of his early years teaching his craft to young minds at Estacado High School.
He enjoyed his work and working metal which he learned from his father as a young man. When he was not working he loved spending time with family and friends.
He also loved music and played drums as a young man and also continuously reminded us of his band ¨ Gabriel and The Unknowns” out of Lamesa, Texas! His claim to fame was they were invited to perform on AMERICAN BANDSTAND, He also enjoyed playing golf, sitting outside on the front porch and sharing stories with whomever would listen.
He was kind and was also ready to remind us of the importance of having a foundation, the foundation based on Faith and Jesus, which was the cornerstone of his Life and Ministry as a husband, father, brother, son, grandfather and brother-in-law.
He is preceded in death by his Father Miguel Saldivar, and Mother Aurora Saldivar, Brothers Mike and Eric Saldivar.
He is survived by his wife Ortensia Florez Saldivar, 2 daughters Veronica ¨Chris¨ Truaxll from Jupiter, Florida, Melissa Mascarenas ¨Mario¨ from Austin,Texas. 2 sons Arthur Saldivar Jr. from Midland, Texas, Salomon Maldonado from Laveen, Arizona. When I was a teenager, my grandparents would send my brothers and I to Lubbock to work with my Tio Ernest in his body shop during summer breaks. I got to spend some time with my family there and get to know my Tio. He was a great story teller and would love to make you laugh. My grandma would play “The Unknowns” album for us and tell us stories about the band. She was so proud to tell us grandkids. The family has a rich heritage of musicians and I am proud to carry that part on to my family as well. Love you Tio!

My deepest heartfelt condolences to the Saldivar Family during this most difficult time. I have known and loved my friend, Ernest, since he was 11 years old and he would play the song "Wipeout" on his drums with "Gabriel and the Unknowns" . My sisters and friends enjoyed many dances when the band played in our hometown. He will be missed.
