Arvel Leon English, 69, of Lubbock, passed away May 5, 2010. Arvel was born in Dimmitt, Texas in 1941. He graduated from Springlake-Earth High School in 1959. He married the love of his life Nancy Lee Mauk on June 12, 1959 and they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. They moved to Lubbock in 1959 and worked for Southwest Public Service. For the last 38 years, he owned and operated Tuftwick Carpet serving Lubbock and the surrounding area.
Arvel’s true loves were his grandchildren and family, as well as garage sales and treasure hunting. He was also a charter member of Oakwood Baptist Church. Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Nancy Lee; daughter Calessa Brusewitz & husband David of Lubbock, TX; son Tal English & wife Tonya also of Lubbock. He will truly be missed by his grandchildren Brennan & Dixon Brusewitz and Denae & Elizabeth English; as well as his brother Lonnie English & wife Elaine of Lubbock; aunt Clydene Damron and numerous cousins and family members.
The family has requested that memorials be made to Lubbock Professional Police Association or your favorite charity.
Funeral services for Arvel will be held Friday May 7, 2010 at 10 AM at Oakwood Baptist Church with Dr. Marcus Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and loved ones Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.
