He dedicated his career to serving students through the public school systems, teaching at Lubbock Cooper and New Deal. His work in education reflected his steady commitment to helping others learn and grow.
Faith was an important part of Earl’s life. He was a founding member of Cooper Church of Christ and spent the past 20 years worshiping with the Kingsridge Church of Christ family. His church communities were a source of fellowship, friendship, and strength throughout his life.
Earl is survived by his loving daughter, Arlene Mears, and her husband, Bob; his sons-in-law, Wayne Nelson and Dan Bray; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. His family will cherish the memories they made with him and will remember him with deep love, gratitude, and affection.
Earl found joy in the things that brought people together. He loved to golf and bowl and enjoyed both as often as Earnestine would allow. He was a proud Texas Tech supporter who enjoyed attending events, and he loved traveling across the country, especially taking cruises. Those who knew him will remember his enjoyment of life, his loyalty to family, and the many stories gathered along the way.
