Barbara Joann Hawkins

Barbara Joann Hawkins, age 90, of Lubbock, Texas went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Barbara was born February 14, 1934, in Ft. Morgan, Colorado, to the late T.R. and Mary Ward. She married her late husband, Don L. Hawkins on December 14, 1952, in Greeley, Colorado; traveled to many places while her husband was in the Air Force, and they welcomed two children while stationed in England. Barbara had been a resident of Lubbock, Texas since 1969. She retired from American State Bank at the age of 65, enjoyed family camping trips to Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and her family was always the most important thing to her.

Barbara is preceded in death by her mother Mary, father T.R., brother Telford, husband Don, daughter Dawn, and son John.

Barbara is survived by three grandchildren; granddaughter, April Horn and husband Kyle of Argyle, TX; her grandson Jon Swartwood II and wife Ansleigh of Lubbock, TX; and granddaughter Erin Swartwood of Lubbock, TX; three great grandson’s, Kaleb Horn of Argyle, TX; Kody Horn of Argyle, TX; Dawson McCurry of Lubbock, TX; two great granddaughters, Addison Swartwood of Lubbock, TX; and Loran McCurry of Lubbock, TX.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2p.m., Monday, July 8, 2024, in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home. A private family entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
