Barbara Agnes (Williamson) McKenna passed away on July 18, 2023. She lived life fully, despite some health complications late in life. She was born in Pawtucket, RI to the late William J. and Ethel Williamson.
She married the late John M. McKenna, PhD and had 6 children. They lived in several states before moving to Lubbock in 1972. She lived in Lubbock for 50 years before moving to Irving, TX in 2022 to be closer to family. She is preceded in death by her husband, John; son, John Jr (Jack); and her sisters, Joan Williamson Segee and Mary Williamson. She is survived by her brother, Paul Williamson and his wife Susan Rubio; daughters: Patricia (McKenna) Sikes and her husband Kent, Susan McKenna, Maureen (McKenna) Book and her husband Kevin, Tracey McKenna and her husband Charles (Butch) Walters; son, William F. McKenna; 6 grandsons and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as Aunt to many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She worked as a Registered nurse at UMC and volunteered constantly for activities at her church or children’s schools, including PTA and Girl Scouts.
The family invites you to join them for visitation and refreshments beginning at 5pm in Resthaven Funeral Home on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Rosary will follow at 6pm. Services will continue on Monday, July 24, 2023 with a 10am Funeral Mass at Christ the King Cathedral. Interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
