

In 1944 her family moved to Loop, Texas where her father owned & operated Loop Cotton Gin. In 1955 they moved to Seagraves, Texas where her father opened Mark's Clothing Store. Bernice attended Seagraves Elementary through High School & graduated in 1960.
Bernice married the love of her life Jimmy Sterling. They were married 60 wonderful years and had three daughters Carla, Bliss & Cathron.
She was later employed by Seagraves ISD for 21 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of several civic organizations. She was voted Citizen of the Year in 2001.
After Jimmy's retirement they moved to Brownfield, Texas and joined the First United Methodist Church there.
She is survived by her sister Fannie Beth Peacock Watson of West Worth Village,TX. Her children: Carla McDaniel and husband Bobby of Jonesboro, GA, Bliss Sterling of Lubbock, TX & Cathron Sterling of San Antonio, TX. Her Grandchildren Trey Sterling of Dumas TX & Tiffani Sterling Ojeda and husband Omar of Lubbock, TX. Her great grandchildren Shelbi, Dominique, Aiden, Addyson, Corey, Cason, Kalo & Kyus.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Sterling, parents Mark & Bess Allen, brother Bud Allen & grandson Terry Allen Ferguson.
Celebration of Life & graveside services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers Bernice asked that donations be sent to the First United Methodist Church in Seagraves or Brownfield or to your local animal shelter. Our family thanks you for the prayers and kind words shared during our time of grief.
