Betty Jean Richardson, of Lubbock, Texas passed away on October 14, 2026. She was born on May 2, 1942, in Lubbock, Texas to Evelyn And Bert Klantchek. Following their divorce, her mother later married Grover M. Bures on July 2, 1955. Betty would say Grover was her true father and treated all the children as his own. Betty grew up in a close-knit and loving family, whose home was always filled with get-togethers, whether for birthdays or simply for the joy of spending time with one another.
Betty attended South Plains College, where she earned a degree in Computer Science. Over the years, she worked in many places, but the time she treasured most was spent at the Lubbock State School, where she worked alongside her sister-in-law, Olga Bures. Betty had a gift for making things with her hands. She loved reading and crocheting, and she was an excellent seamstress who delighted in making countless items for her children and grandchildren. She also completed a cake decorating course and took great satisfaction in creating beautiful cakes for her extended family. Family meant everything to her, and she especially loved helping to organize the annual Gill family reunion.
Above all, Betty will be remembered for her loving nature and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. She was a wonderful and devoted daughter, sister ,mother and grandmother who was always doing whatever was needed for her family. Her greatest love was her husband, Clyde Richardson. They met in 1960 and were married in 1967, and theirs was a love that lasted a lifetime.
Betty attended Genesis Baptist Church with Clyde, and she was deeply pleased with his renewed connection with the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her mother Evelyn Bures, father Grover Bures, beloved husband, Clyde Edward Richardson; , brother, Ronnie Bures; and her sister, Kay Meier.
She is survived by her son, Wesley Curtis Richardson and wife Shayla of Lubbock; her daughter, Jodie Lynn Redding and husband Ricky of Odessa; her brother, John Bures and wife Olga of Lubbock; and a sister, Eva Nell "Pepper" Redding of Odessa. Along with seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Betty found her person early in life. Clyde passed away on August 4th of this year, and she joined him on October 14, 2026. Though she will be dearly missed, we take great comfort in knowing that she is reunited with the love of her life, rejoicing together in heaven.
