Betty Jean was born a twin on May 10, 1929 in Van Alstyne, Texas, Grayson County, to Lois Haynes Stephens and Grady Stephens. She was one of five siblings: her twin sister, Billye Dean, and three brothers, James, Garth, and younger brother, Haynes. Her family moved when she was 5 years old to the Shallowater area. Her dad had a car repair garage in Shallowater.
She entered into a lifelong relationship with Jesus at Baptist Church Camp at Ceta Glen as a youth.
She married her High School sweetheart, Norman Teague, on August 11, 1946 at the First Baptist Church in Shallowater, Texas after he returned from serving in the Navy during World War II.
Her first child, Norma Jean, was born on April 5, 1948 in Lubbock, Texas.
Her second child, Gregory Dalton, was born in Big Spring, Texas on September 14, 1950.
Her third child, Ronald Norman, was born in Fresno, California on April 22, 1954.
On October 15, 1973, Ronny was killed in a spray plane crash at 19 years of age near Ropesville, Texas in Hockley County.
Betty took care of her mother in their home for 13 years until her mom passed away in February 1998. She then joined Shallowater Senior Citizens and helped Norman, who was president for several years after retiring from farming.
On September 9, 2007 her husband, Norman passed away.
On June 19, 2008 her twin sister, Billye Dean passed away. All of her siblings preceded her in death.
On February 7, 2017 Betty went to be with her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by two children Norma Taylor (husband Wilford), Greg Teague (wife Glenna), five grandchildren Amy Strickland (husband Corey), Kim Banner (husband Brendon), Jennifer Nemeth, Gerrick Teague (wife Elizabeth), Gavin Teague, 18 great-grandchildren Allisha White (husband Max), Autumn Johnson, Kassandra Thetford, Abigail Carrasco (husband Taylor), Hailey Nemeth, Brady Thetford, Lindsey Nemeth, Macy Strickland, Zachary Johnson, Dylan Strickland, MacKenzie Banner, Brayden Banner, Elliana Nemeth, Oren Teague, Elyas Teague, Zadek Teague, Aviram Teague, and Toviah Teague, Brayden Banner, and Mackenzie Banner, and four great-great-grandchildren Creed Carrasco, Henry White, Harper Heath, and Oliver White.
