

She married Raymond Albert Huddle February 19, 1949 in Fort Worth, TX.
She is survived by her children Stephen Huddle and wife Sharla, Susan Nelson,who provided loving care in her home for the last few weeks of her life, and Sheryl Ditto and husband Doyle, all of Lubbock, TX. She was blessed with ten grandchildren, Brian, Jason, Stephanie, Shawna, Lindsey, Holly, Stevie, Danielle, Garrett, and Callie, eleven great grandchildren, Ashley, Abby, Caleb, Sarah, Graham, Sawyer, Harper, Paige, Paityn, Emma, Kinsley, and a baby boy expected in June, one exchange student granddaughter Olga and husband Abraham Mata and their son Stephen and daughter Anna also of Lubbock.
She was preceded in death by her mother Irma Webb Brown, father Herman Wesley Brown, “second”mother Norma Cowert, grandson, Jason and her husband of fifty seven years Raymond ,who “chased her” for eight years, until she finally “caught him”.
After graduating from TCU in 1946, Bettye worked as a Registered Medical Technologist and was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. She began her career at Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, then was recruited by private practice, then ran a lab for three doctors of Obstetrics and Gynecology. After moving to Lubbock in 1964, she worked at Medical Arts Clinic where she retired after 20 years as Chief Technologist then worked part time for several years.
Bettye and Raymond were faithful members of Green Lawn church of Christ. They were involved in many church works as well as entertaining in their home. After retirement they worked as volunteers at Covenant Hospital, Meals on Wheels, teaching literacy, and English using the Bible. Later she took her Yorkie therapy dog to hospitals and to schools. Ray was the rock and Bettye was the mortar that held our family together. Everyone knew her as a special sweet lady. Her influence will endure for years to come and the world is a better place for her having been in it. She will be missed, and fondly remembered.

at 11:00AM at Resthaven Funeral Home & Cemetery Currently there is no limit on attendance, while observing social distancing. Graveside service will be live streamed on Facebook.
