Bill Brown, beloved husband, father, grandad, brother, and friend, passed away on August 1, 2024 at the age of 77 years old. Bill was born on May 15, 1947 in Brownfield, Texas to Guy and Louise Brown.
Bill met his wife, Kathlene, on a blind date. They married two years later and were married for 56 years. Bill graduated Texas Tech University and was an avid Red Raider fan. Bill was a successful salesman in the flooring business for decades, enjoyed golfing, going to the gun range, and working in the yard. He was a long-time member of Monterey Baptist Church. He was a constant model of what it looks like to love and take great care of his family.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8. This verse embodies the spirit that Bill fought his cancer battle with. He approached this battle with courage, faith, determination, and a positive attitude.
Bill was preceded in death by his father Guy Brown, mother Louise Brown, sister Becky Brown, and sister-in-law Bettye Brown.
He is survived by his wife, Kathlene, daughter Lesli Boger and son-in-law Chris Boger, and daughter Kelli McElhone, grandchildren Logan and Avery Boger, brother Bobby Brown, and many other family and friends.
Services will be held at Monterey Baptist Church (3601 50th Street) on Monday, August 5th at 10 am.
The family would like to thank Dr. Yalamanchili, the Joe Arrington Cancer Center nurses, and staff who took great care of him. Bill received several platelet transfusions made possible by generous blood donors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Joe Arrington Cancer Center or by donating blood and platelets to help save a life.
