Billie Pace Mitchell

She was born Billie Doris Pace in New Boston, Texas on April 19,1927 to Artie B Pace and Vida M. Jones, the sixth of ten children. She graduated as Valedictorian of Broken Bow High School, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma in 1944.

She married Leo Steward Mitchell of Pasadena, Texas on June 8, 1947. Billie and Leo began their lives in Pasadena,Tx and over the years they resided in

New Orleans, LA, Stamford, CT, Midland and Houston, TX. Upon retiring, they moved to Ruidoso, NM where they lived for 25 years. In 2012, they made their final move to Lubbock, Texas. Billie and Leo enjoyed traveling and spending time with the family. Her other favorite pastime was playing duplicate bridge, winning many awards and accolades. She achieved the level of Platinum Life Master, earning over 12,000 points and was much sought after as a

partner.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Leo S. Mitchell; her oldest child, Mark S. Mitchell; brothers, A B, Hiram, and Thomas Pace; sisters, Cornelia Suenram and Nina Monroe.

Billie is survived by her son Dennis A. Mitchell and wife Peggy of Cypress,Tx; daughter Jeannine M. Mueller and husband Chris of Lubbock; sisters Avonelle Mchenry, Mary Mac Alexander, Frances Stacey, and Clara Stevens; seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
