

Billie Claudette Simmons was born on August 29, 1939, to Claudine and Ralphnell Kidd Sims. She passed peacefully on September 10, 2023. A graveside ceremony at Resthaven Cemetery, Lubbock, Texas, followed by a reception will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 20, 2023.
On January 28, 1967, Billie married James Simmons. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Allen Liebsch, and her parents. She was followed in death by her brother, David Sims.
Billie led a life full of wonderful experiences with many loyal lifetime friends and family. Billie retired from Sky Chef while living in the Raleigh Durham area. While there, she and her close friends did all things Elvis from an Elvis Cruise, visits to Tupelo and Memphis, to judging Elvis impersonators. Billie was a devoted member of Beta Sigma Phi and was Valentine Sweetheart in Raleigh and Woman of the Year four times through her online sorority after returning to Texas in retirement. Billie worked with Habitat for Humanity and helped restore a Safe House for abused women. Whether in North Carolina, Texas, or Iran, she made special friends with whom she stayed in contact. Ever the extravert and bored with retirement, Billie worked as a Demo lady for United Supermarkets where she took great care of her “regulars.” She was a devoted member of Texas Democratic Women and she loved going to The Farm.
Billie is survived by her sister-in-law Betsy, her brother John (Debbie), her son Art Liebsch (Sarah), and daughters Anita Sims (Randy) and Lesa Simmons. Grandchildren are: Sarah, Stephanie, Allie (J.C.), Ashlen (Coby), Mikell, Trevor, James Ellison (Holli), and Van. Great-grandchildren are: Zachary, Briahna, Brayden, Oliver, and Winter. She will be remembered as a positive, loving, and fun sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
The family is grateful to Art and Sarah and Hospice for the loving care in her final year.
