Funeral services for Billy Joe Bartlett, 86, of New Deal, will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2011 in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven. Mr. Bartlett passed away on Tuesday, May 17th.
Billy was born on December 7, 1924 in Garza County to Hobart and Mamie Jones Bartlett. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Dorothy Bolton in Lubbock, on January 10, 1953. He was in the appliance sales and repair business for many years.
Billy was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Bartlett in 2002, in addition to two brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, a daughter, Brenda Exum of Lubbock; one grandson, Jeremy Exum of Fort Worth; one sister, Doris Baugh of Florida and several nieces and nephews. He was an avid golfer and recorded several holes in one.
