

Billy J. York of Lubbock, Texas passed away peacefully after a short illness on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at the age of 86. He was born in Roaring Springs, TX to the late John Franklin and Etta Mae York. He married Francis A. Guice and was blessed with 66 years of marriage.
Bill was in law enforcement for 15 years, first as a police officer and then as a Sheriff's deputy. Thereafter, he was employed in the banking industry where he eventually earned the title of Vice President until 1974. From 1978 to the present, he was a real estate broker and appraiser. Bill was a good photographer and also enjoyed woodworking. He was a deacon and trustee at Highland Baptist Church. He had a passion for traveling and he and his wife visited all 50 states together.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Francis A. York; daughters and their spouses: Vicki (Paul) Phillips, Candace York (James Callahan); son: Alan C. York; grandchildren & spouses: Josh (Brandi) Phillips, Jenny McClelland and Julie (Benjamin) Stinespring ; great-grandchildren: Jacob McClelland, Nathanial Phillips, Luke Phillips and Cassidy Stinespring; nephew & spouse: Bo (Verna) Bowman. Bill's parents and eight brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
