He was born on a farm near Littlefield, Texas on July 15th 1936 to Bill and Ethel Cooper.
Bobby and family lived in Raton, New Mexico during his early teen years it was here that Bobby's little sister Janette was born. During that time Bobby's dad, Bill, owned a Bowling Alley where Bobby and his brother Lon worked after school and on Saturdays. Their job was to take turns setting the pins up after every ball was thrown. Now this was before the invention of mechanical pin setting. One day Bobby was setting that last pin when he heard the thunder of that ball coming down the lane. A pin struck him in the forehead requiring some stitches. He was lucky... it could have been worse... but as a young teen, he enjoyed showing off his scar and telling the story.
Eventually the family moved to Morton, Texas, and where Bobby spent his High School year. Bobby had a busy Senior year in Morton where he was involved in track, basketball, and football. He was a member of the Lone Star Boys State, Annual Staff and he was voted Mr. Morton High School. He was also the schools "Indian Brave".
It was in Morton where Bobby met the love of his life, Freda Jean Chesshir. When Bobby graduated from High School he began to work at the local Piggly Wiggly. One day a shoe salesman came by with his catalogue to try and sale some shoes. Bobby noticed that in his catalogue he was seeing diamond rings. It was the shoe salesman that helped Bobby make the purchase for a beautiful Platinum diamond ring that he would present to Freda asking her to marry him. She said yes!!!
He married Freda at her family farmhouse outside of Morton on January 22nd, 1956. Soon after they married Bobby got a job working for Halliburton beginning his 36 year career with them retiring as an "Assistant District Manager" in 1991. In 1957 Bobby and Freda were blessed with their first child. A little girl named Vicki. Then in 1960 their second child was born, another girl named Jan.
Bobby had many Hobbies he enjoyed, fishing, woodcrafts, arrowhead hunting. But his biggest joy in life was his children, and hearing about the adventures of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
It was in October of 2011 that the Lord called his precious wife Freda home. Bobby and Freda had a wonderful life together for 55 years. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Ethel Cooper. His wife Freda, and his infant grandson Steven Charles Jameson.
