

Bobby “Jack” Taylor, 87 passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Lubbock. He was born September 27, 1926 to Jack Franklin Taylor and Nina (Morgan) Taylor in Kirkland, Texas. Jack married Doris Bell September 2, 1950 in Shamrock, Texas. They lived in Lubbock a year and moved to Seminole, Texas where Jack owned Jack’s Bit Service; supplying seismograph bits to oil exploration companies in the United States, Canada, Alaska, and Australia. Jack’s passion was music. After his retirement he formed a small band named Jack Taylor and the West Texas Swing. They played at many of the retirement and nursing homes of Lubbock. He was a singer and played the fiddle. Jack is survived by his wife Doris of 63 years and two sons, David of Lubbock, and Gary of Bacliff. He was preceded in death by a son, Jim Bob in 1988. The family gives its heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful caregivers at South Haven and Mackenzie House. We are forever grateful. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 in the Abbey Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with interment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
