Bobby Wayne "Bob" Wideman, 92, peacefully changed his address to Heaven on May 16, 2026, passing away at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. He leaves behind a profound legacy of faith, family devotion, and a life beautifully lived in service to his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Bob was born on January 21, 1934, in Crosby County, Texas, to Morris Jackson and Vada Wideman. Growing up with his brothers, Haney and Laney, Bob developed a deep connection to the West Texas land and its people. He began his professional life working the soil as a farmer before transitioning to a 32-year career as the dedicated manager of Crosby County Fuel, serving the communities of Ralls, Crosbyton, McAdoo, and Lorenzo. A man who believed in enjoying the fruits of his labor, Bob retired at the age of 62 and blessed his family with 30 wonderful, active years of retirement.
To know Bob was to know a man who loved the Lord with all his heart. He never met a stranger, and he possessed a unique, gentle gift for turning any conversation, in any situation, into an opportunity to witness and share the gospel of Jesus. His faith was not just spoken; it was lived out daily.
Bob was the undeniable rock of his family. He dedicated his life to teaching, training, sharing, and giving. As a father, he was always present—coaching youth sports and making it a priority to never miss a single game or activity his children participated in. He fiercely put his family first in all things, serving as a steady anchor of love and encouragement.
Bob is survived by the love of his life and wife of 73 years, Betty Switzer Wideman. He is also survived by his children: Kenny Wideman and his wife Brenda, Belva Sheport, and Ray Don Wideman and his wife Kim. His legacy of love continues through his 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Jackson and Vada Wideman, and his brothers, Haney and Laney Wideman.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers (Lubbock, TX).
A celebration of Bob’s life and faith will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel, with burial immediately following at the Ralls Cemetery in Ralls, Texas.
