Brandy Tripp

Brandy Leigh Tripp, 51, of Lubbock, Texas passed away Monday, August 3, 2026, after a lengthy illness. She was born on December 30, 1974, in Arlington, Texas to John R. McRae and Paula D. McRae. Brandy attended South Grand Prairie High School, Grand Prairie, Texas and then for her senior year, attended Artesia High School in Artesia, New Mexico where she graduated in the class of 1992. She went on to further her education at the University of Texas at Arlington and then later formed her own geological technician company, Palm Tree Geotech, and provided geological data gathering and computer input services for various oil and gas companies in Midland, Texas.

Brandy married Steven J. Winther on May 26, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nevada, resided in Denver, Colorado until they were transferred to Midland, TX. They had two children, Sierra Jade Winther and Jordan Clay Winther. Brandy later married Mark Robert Tripp on September 26, 2014, in Azle, Texas and resided in Midland, Texas until a transfer of her husband Mark moved them to Lubbock, Texas.

Brandy had a passion for art and all sports, especially tennis and baseball. She played on the South Grand Prairie High School and the Artesia High School tennis teams.

Brandy will always be remembered for her kindness and compassion for others.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Lori Dawn Bailey. She is survived by her parents, John R. McRae and Paula D. McRae, her husband Mark Robert Tripp, and her two children, Sierra Jade Speer, Jordan Clay Winther, and her beloved dog “Axel,” a Great Dane.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a memorial donation to Cooper Methodist Church, 16612 Loop 493, Lubbock, Texas 79423 or Oasis Southwestern Baptist Church, 8201 Canyon Drive, Amarillo, TX 79110. The family would also like to thank Covenant Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock, TX for their loving kindness and service, especially the cardiac ICU.

The family will have a memorial service for Brandy on Saturday, August 29, 2026, 1:30 PM at Cooper Methodist Church, 16612 Loop 493, Lubbock, Texas 79423 (806-863-2254). Following the service, there will be a reception with a meal in the church fellowship hall.
