Funeral Services for Brooke Ann Adams will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, August 20, 2010, at the First Baptist Church of Lubbock with Reverend Bobby Dagnel presiding. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday 19, 2010, at Resthaven Funeral Home from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Brooke passed away on Sunday, August 15th, 2010, after a lengthy illness; she was 19.
Brooke was born on March 19, 1991, in Lubbock, Texas to Barney Adams and Kandy Black Adams. She graduated from Trinity Christian High School with an advance honor degree in May of 2009. At Trinity, Brooke was freshman class and senior class treasurer. She was elected to the Homecoming Court and won Prom Queen. Brooke was an active member of the National Charity League. Her favorite NCL philanthropy was Second Helpings Soup Kitchen. She was honored with the NCL’s “110% Award.”
Brooke was a freshman at Texas Tech University majoring in business and accounting. She was a part of the Chi Omega sorority and was awarded “Pledge of the Week.” Brooke was also active in the Texas Tech Student Alumni Board of Directors and Freshman Council (Student Government Association). She was active in the college ministry at First Baptist Church (Nine Thirty).
The very essence of Brooke’s spirit flowed out from her intimate relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In every aspect of Brooke’s life she sought the Lord for direction and guidance. Her walk with the Lord was firm and steadfast. Brooke had a longing to love the helpless and the forgotten. She was always there to lend a helping hand whether it was volunteering at the Soup Kitchen or missions. Brooke desired to treat people with the same compassion that Christ’s bestowed upon his people.
Survivors include her parents Kandy and Barney Adams, her sister KaKa Adams of Lubbock; her grandmother Jerri Black; great-aunt Clota Gregory; her aunts and uncles, Tana and Dewayne Askins of Lubbock; Star and Bryan Wendt of Sunnyvale; aunt and uncle Susan and Larry Meyer of Tucson, Arizona; cousins, Trista and Danya Askins; Lacy and Thomas Wendt; Eric Simpson; cousin Tara and her husband Shaun Kirkpatrick and children Anna and Ashley; cousin Amie and her husband Jayson Symchak and children Sophia and Austin; and her special cousin Mandy Simpson who also helped her through this difficult journey. She was preceded in death by grandparents Tom Black and Winnie and Ray Adams.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses at Bright Star who loved and cared for Brooke during this difficult time.
