Brooke passed away on Sunday, August 15th, 2010, after a lengthy illness; she was 19.

Brooke was born on March 19, 1991, in Lubbock, Texas to Barney Adams and Kandy Black Adams. She graduated from Trinity Christian High School with an advance honor degree in May of 2009. At Trinity, Brooke was freshman class and senior class treasurer. She was elected to the Homecoming Court and won Prom Queen. Brooke was an active member of the National Charity League. Her favorite NCL philanthropy was Second Helpings Soup Kitchen. She was honored with the NCL’s “110% Award.”

Brooke was a freshman at Texas Tech University majoring in business and accounting. She was a part of the Chi Omega sorority and was awarded “Pledge of the Week.” Brooke was also active in the Texas Tech Student Alumni Board of Directors and Freshman Council (Student Government Association). She was active in the college ministry at First Baptist Church (Nine Thirty).

The very essence of Brooke’s spirit flowed out from her intimate relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In every aspect of Brooke’s life she sought the Lord for direction and guidance. Her walk with the Lord was firm and steadfast. Brooke had a longing to love the helpless and the forgotten. She was always there to lend a helping hand whether it was volunteering at the Soup Kitchen or missions. Brooke desired to treat people with the same compassion that Christ’s bestowed upon his people.

Survivors include her parents Kandy and Barney Adams, her sister KaKa Adams of Lubbock; her grandmother Jerri Black; great-aunt Clota Gregory; her aunts and uncles, Tana and Dewayne Askins of Lubbock; Star and Bryan Wendt of Sunnyvale; aunt and uncle Susan and Larry Meyer of Tucson, Arizona; cousins, Trista and Danya Askins; Lacy and Thomas Wendt; Eric Simpson; cousin Tara and her husband Shaun Kirkpatrick and children Anna and Ashley; cousin Amie and her husband Jayson Symchak and children Sophia and Austin; and her special cousin Mandy Simpson who also helped her through this difficult journey. Barney, Kandy, and KaKa-
I recently learned of your loss; amidst my sorrow for you, many very happy memories of Brooke have returned. She served her Lord in the way she treated people and with the smile she always wore. Please know you are in my prayers and that you have a place in my heart.

I was out-of-state when Brooke passed away and only found out today. It was very sad news to hear. Brooke took my freshman history course at TTU and I grew very fond of her through office hours visits. What a nice person she was! Brooke was one of those rare people who combined an outgoing, vibrant personality with a keen mind and an amazing work ethic. I have never seen anyone who worked harder but who enjoyed it so much. No matter how long I teach, Brooke is one of the few students I will always remember. I hope that her parents and closest friends can take some comfort in how well respected and loved she was in the wider world during her short time with us.

Our daughter, Emily played tennis in the junior circuit with Brooke when they were little girls. They later reconnected through Chi Omega as Emily is involved in the chapter at Baylor. Our daughter was always drawn to Brooke because of her sweet countenance. We want to extend our deepest sympathies to your family, and yet also rejoice in knowing that Brooke has experienced perfect healing. We know she now rests in the arms of Jesus.

I have watched Brooke grow up both at First Baptist Church, The Dance Gallery and then later at Trinity Christian School. She consistantly was one of the sweetest most joyful people I have ever been around. Her service, today, was a testament of her life and of those who's lives she touched. She was very special to the class of '09 at TCS and held a special place in my son Parker's heart. Barney, Kandi and KaKa--she will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Her life is a reminder to all of us of the grace and beauty of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Brooke was such a sweet girl to take care of. Her and her family were so beautiful and strong. You could tell Brooke came from the best kind of family even if you only knew her for a few days. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Amie SICU night nurse at Covenant.

Brooke was one of the most courageous and inspiring young women I have known in my lifetime. Beauty radiated from her, and that beauty will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss Kandy, Barney, and KaKa.
