

Cecil James Moncrief, C.J., Papa, Papa C.
C.J. was born July 23, 1941 and left too soon for his heavenly home on March 10, 2017. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and hardworking man.
He was born in Lubbock, Texas, the only son of James Fletcher Moncrief and Willie Mae Trim Moncrief. He was preceded in death by his parents and Cherry Moncrief.
C.J. lived a full and rich life. He was raised and educated in Lubbock and graduated from Monterey High School as part of the Class of 1960. He remained a Proud TEXAN until the end! Joining the U.S. Navy after high school, he served our country during the Vietnam Era while aboard the U.S.S. Lexington, U.S.S. Constellation, and the U.S.S. Enterprise. He was awarded the National Defense and Good Conduct medals. He achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class as a Parachute Rigger. He also earned his wings as a Naval Air Crewman. He served with VT-31 at NAS in Corpus Christi, TX and VRC-40 at NAS Norfolk, Virginia.
After his military career, he joined the United States Postal Service and worked until his retirement. While there he earned the 20 year “Accident Free” Safe Driver Award from the National Safety Council and United States Postal Service, the Certificate of Appreciation Award for 100% for both CLASS and AMS Audit Awards, and the 30 Year Community Service Award.
His next life adventure was as Owner/Operator of his own trucking company, CJ & I Trucking.
He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, National Association of Letter Carriers, and Hub City Wheelers Square Dance Club.
Leaving behind on this earthly home, his wife and friend of 30 years, Ida Bramhall Moncrief. He also leaves behind: Five children and their spouses: Jay & Kelly Moncrief, Dale & Carl Bradley, Kathy Bramhall & Steve Hellwege, Robert & Terri Bramhall, Brenda & Doug Edington; Sixteen Grandchildren: Christa, Elizabeth, Carly, Joe, Lindsay, Michael, Kyle, Jeremy, Megan, Samantha, Jessica, Jeremiah, Sebastian, and Andres; Thirteen Great Grandchildren: Dalton, Dayton, Bailey, Riley, Draven, Jax, Devan, Gabriel, Wesson, Landon, Gavin, Alanna, and Sebastian
