Cecilia E Higdon

Cecilia Esther Higdon passed away on February 28, 2026. A rosary service will be held on Sunday March 8, 2026 at 5 p.m., at Lake Ridge Chapel, followed by a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6 until 7 p.m. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 89 years at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Cecilia Higdon was born on December 27, 1936 to James Robert and Esther Langley in Floyd County, Texas. Cecilia met the love of her life, Jim Higdon, at Texas Tech University and they married on October 5, 1957 at St. Alice Catholic Church in Plainview, Texas. They were married for 61 years, living in Fort Benning, GA, Leoti, KS, Plainview, TX, Des Moines, IA, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Lubbock, TX, . She worked as a Cosmetologist and a Secretary at Highland Elementary in Plainview, TX and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Lubbock, TX until she retired. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Cecilia was an accomplished quilter, winning first place in the county fair, and she lovingly created quilts for each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren (and their dogs). Ceil was well travelled and lived a full life with her husband Jim, and she loved to dance. She was an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, James Michael Higdon, Mary Katherine Higdon, Paul Anthony Higdon; David Alan Higdon and wife, Lizette; Leslie Ann Hackett and husband, Brent; and Theresa Annette Daniel; grandchildren, Paul, Isaac, Maximiliano, Ryan, Ashley, and Alyssa Higdon, Grace Garza and husband Jacob; Jordan Hackett and wife Kayla, Jacob Hackett and wife, Taryn, Lindsey and Kyla Daniel; great-grandchild, Xoe Hamby, Brooklyn and Luna Hackett, Gia Garza; and sibling James Langley (brother).

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Higdon; son, Mark Andrew Higdon; grandson, Lawrence Elwood "Woody" Higdon; parents, James Robert and Esther Langley; and siblings Eloise Gallaway, Eunice Covington, Bobbie Sue Damron, Ralph Langley, and Neil Langley.
