A devoted physician and ophthalmologist, Dr. Fisher dedicated his professional life to caring for others in the Lubbock community. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin and attended Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He was also a longtime member of Rotary, reflecting his deep commitment to service and helping those around him.
Those who knew him will remember him most for the kind of man he was. He was patient, wise, and perhaps the kindest man you could ever meet. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a genuine gift for making people feel cared for and valued. He loved to travel, enjoyed making memories with family and friends, and had a special love for dogs. A dog never seemed to be a stranger to him—he was always happy to stop and pet one, and his face would light up around them.
But perhaps more than anything, he loved helping people. Whether through his work as a physician, his service to his community, or simply through the everyday kindness he showed to others, he made a difference in countless lives.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Linda Timmons Fisher; his children, Matthew Charles Fisher and Emily Banes; his son-in-law, Daniel Banes; and his grandchildren, Christian Loyd and Andrew Charles Banes. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Hurt and John Fisher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dolores Fisher.
His family will forever remember him not only for the lives he touched as a physician, but for the countless ways he made the world a kinder place simply by being in it. His wisdom, patience, humor, generosity, and love will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held at Lake Ridge Chapel on September 30, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. The visitation will be come-and-go.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by helping someone in need, sharing a kind word, or doing something that would have made him smile—including stopping to pet a dog. A little kindness, to a person or an animal, would be a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much of it throughout his life.
