Following college at McMurry University and seminary at SMU, Perkins School of Theology, he married Peggy J. Ellis on June 20, 1958. Their union was blessed with three children: Debbie, Bryan, and Donna.
Charles retired after many years as a Methodist Minister and began a lengthy career working for Bates Wells as well as Lubbock State School, TIBH, and L.A.E.R.S. He also was an active member of Kiwanis International Club and Lubbock Lions Club, and volunteered his time to Meals on Wheels.
Everyone that knew Charles respected his character, honesty, and his commitment and loyalty to his family, friends, and community. Those that really knew Charles enjoyed his dry sense of humor, sarcasm, and personality. Charles was an amazing man who was loved by many. His family and friends will miss him desperately.
